TekTracking Continues Commander Terminal Automation (CTA) Rollout to Modernize Legacy Class 1 Yards

Fairport, New York November 2nd, 2021

TekTracking LLC, a technology development company focused on railroad asset monitoring, control, and management solutions announced today another successful implementation of its Commander Terminal Automation (CTA) system on a Canadian Class 1 railroad. This second installation was given the greenlight after an inaugural installation was cutover and fully accepted by the Class 1. Commander is a modern control and communication platform specifically designed to vastly reduce the support costs demanded by legacy radio control technology suppliers.

“I am pleased with how efficiently Commander has begun to rollout as a direct replacement to legacy yard systems at this Class 1. Utilizing existing yard infrastructure, we can easily integrate our next generation hardware & software solution to maximize switching capabilities while keeping maintenance and repair simple for the railroad.” says Gregory Fogarty, TekTracking CEO.

CTA was developed to leverage superior, off-the-shelf, communication, and control products to provide a 100% ethernet-based wireless control system. CTA replaces only the legacy control and communication components found in all yard automation systems. CTA retains the existing power switch machine and the existing OS circuit which makes modernizing yard automation relatively inexpensive. The CTA system is simple to set up and includes sophisticated software to assist in network maintenance and troubleshooting.  Replacement components are open source and readily available, even on Amazon! This allows the system to be easily supported by trained railroad personnel, eliminating the need for constant reliance on the system provider.
