Fairport, New York June 3rd, 2024 – TekTracking LLC, a technology development company focused on railroad asset monitoring, control, and management solutions has today the cutover of its Commander Terminal Automation (CTA) to Class One yard in Prince George, British Columbia.
“The automation of this Canadian Class 1 facility has significantly reduced a major challenge for the Railroad. This vital yard entrance intersection, which manages rail traffic from multiple directions, now features a new system that integrates camera technology and remote reset capabilities, addressing numerous issues previously encountered by the Railroad. Our team made substantial enhancements to the Commander system to meet these advanced requirements, and we are thrilled with the results. CTA was developed to leverage modern, off-the-shelf, communication, and control products to provide a 100% ethernet-based wireless control system. CTA replaces only the legacy control and communication components found in all yard automation systems. CTA retains the existing power switch machine and the existing OS circuit which makes modernizing yard automation relatively inexpensive. The CTA system is simple to set up and includes sophisticated software to assist in network maintenance and troubleshooting. Replacement components are open source and readily available – This allows the system to be easily supported by trained railroad personnel, eliminating the need for constant reliance on the system provider.
