2019 was an incredible growth year at TekTracking, packed with accomplishments and learning experiences. As we reflect on 2019 and summarize our accomplishments the two words that come to mind are “Partnerships & Product Development” as they capture succinctly how the year went for our tight knit group.
Key Milestones in Product Development
We are very fortunate to have a team of blue-sky thinkers, pragmatic business minds, and railroad industry veterans. This combination of talent enables us to build our technology products with direct guidance from our customers.
Safety Light Monitor Deployment
As a result, we have deployed our first Safety Light Monitor (SLM) sensors in Alberta, Canada. We are receiving data and images from the remote sensors that reflect the operating condition of each equipped crossing warning light. We are now developing an image analysis algorithm to automatically detect failed crossing warning light conditions. Our patent pending technology is critical for railroads to enable continuous monitoring of all aspects of grade crossing operation, and eventually of all safety critical lights. As a result of this success, we are now developing another sensor product to remotely detect the position of the crossing gate, as well as the status of the gate lights.
Track Inspection Maintenance Planning System
In parallel to our hardware development we continued the evolution of our TIMPS (Track Inspection Maintenance Planning System) and defined our strategy for LAMP (Linear Asset Management Platform). The first implementations of TIMPS is already underway with some transit agencies and industrial railroads, and once complete, we will overlay our LAMP application, providing customers with a tool to visualize real-time data on their own system map.
Stay tuned for the second part of the blog that recaps the partnerships that TekTracking built during year 2019.
